Our Founder

July 11, 1943 – August 20, 2025

It is with great sadness that the officers of the Morgan County Emergency Communications Network announce the passing of our founder and president, John L. Petersen (WQ0J) on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025.

He has left us with many great blessings –  an organization centered on a common interest and commitment of service to our community, recognized as valuable resource far beyond what communities of our size generally muster, and with a proven track record of educating and equipping our community for an uncertain future.

John has left us with a clear mission: to finish our work with diligence and continue to prepare and support our community for times of need. Our leadership is committed to honor his name and continue his work at MCECN.
